I am J. Dylan Kennedy, a farmer, artist, educator, experimenter, and most of all an ecosystem regenerator. Ketelwood is my business and creative outlet, built on over 15 years of work and study in the field. In my work I constantly blur lines, often between agriculture and conservation, through the mindful reintegration of human beings into our environs. My goals are holistic, to build resilient food systems and communities through regenerating farmland ecosystems, and everything they interact with. That’s no small feat, but I’m not alone. Over the course of my career I have learned from, and collaborated with, a wide array of experts and practitioners who share my passion and values, and continue to cultivate the partnerships necessary for continued progress in my endeavor.
The name Ketelwood derives from the roots ketel, as in a kettle or cauldron, and wood, referring to the semi-cultivated woodland commons shared by our ancestors around the world. Ketelwood exists to have positive impact over as much land as I can reasonably influence, in keeping with the traditional values of the wood. That starts here at my own farm in Kentucky, and extends to other land bases, clients, students and collaborators. Each project is unique, and you can learn about some of them here. If you like what you see, and would like to know more, I’d love to talk to you.
